I’ve had a lot of questions lately from Contractors about adding or updating the SEO on their websites.

I’ve explained that SEO is not very simple, but there are two simple things you can do to help the SEO on your website.

1. Adding the correct information to the header of your website. This includes optimizing the Title, Description, and Keywords.
• Title – The name of your company followed by your tag line and/or your geographical location. (Adding geographical location helps to target your local customer base.)
• Description – Add a detailed description of your company. The Description is what shows up underneath your page’s title in the search engines.
• Keywords – Have you researched your keywords? If not, do it now. A good resource on how to research your keywords is the Google Webmaster Central. After your keywords have been established, add them to your website’s header.
2. Placing your researched keywords in the headings and first paragraph of your website.
